Jelly beans T2W7
Jelly Beans
Jelly beans are sweet, colorful and crunchy, have ever wondered these mouth - watering lollies are from?
Jelly beans can take up to 6 - 10 days to make.
First, the sugar is boiled to 750 degrees celsius in a humongous kettle. Next glucose and starch are included. In another section of the factory starch is poured into a tray. A big machine called the leveler evans out the starch onto a tray. A molder
presses down into a BIG tray of starch to make the shape of a jelly bean.
Each tray can make up to 1075 jelly bean molds. The sugar and starch mix is then pounded into the moulds. These trays can makes up to 1 million jelly beans per hour, WOW!!!!
The coverbelt takes them to another section of the factory called the drying room. The jelly beans stay in the drying room for 24 hours. In the drying room they start to solidify (GET HARD) and they become Chewy.
Now, Big robotic arms flips the tray of dried starch and sugar centres into a humongous drum which separates them. When the trays flip back they fill up with starch to make the moulds and the process begins again.
Meanwhile, The dried jelly bean centres are transferred to the steam belt - which makes them a tiny bit damp. They are put into drums that rotate as the workers pour sugar on them.
In another part of factory - another worker puts food colour - ing into liquid sugar The mix is called ingroicing, The worker adds this, and some flavouring into the jelly beans. After they change colour - the worker dumps even more sugar into the
drum.
This is repeated 4 times!!!!! There are 124,000 Jelly beans in each drum! The they add wax . This polishes the beans.
Next, they add a little wax. The beans rub against each other. This makes them shiny.
Finally the drum stops spinning. It lets the jelly beans dry for thew hours. Now the jelly beans are ready to eat !!!!
Now you know how they’re made - you might appreciate their sweet yummy flavour a little more!!
