 Dear Guy sebastian,

                              Hi Guy, my name is Maui, I am 10 years old and attending Tamaki Primary School at East Auckland. I am in year 5 and enjoying myself. This term we are learning Rhythm-Rap-Rhyme because we need to improve our pronunciations and enunciations. It is really fun.

 We have identify the messages from songs about peace and positive relationship. We have come across some of your songs such as Get along and It starts with us. I think they are fantastic songs.

 Your song “It starts with us” inspires our class and we decided work on it and perform it in week 9. The message that I have learnt is that ‘nobody can make the change happen except me.’

 Thank you for writing such a beautiful song.

Your’s faithfully,  Maui.

limericks

LI: To write limericks

SC: It must have 5 lines lines, he last word of the first and last line must be the same and all the last words of each line must rhyme.

Limericks are nonsensical 5 line rhymes that were made popular hundreds of years ago by Edward Lear.

Here is an example:

There was an old person of Pisa,
Whose daughters did nothing to please her;
She dressed them in gray, and banged them all day,
Round the walls of the city of Pisa.

Use the following link to check out some more of his collection.  Use names of local/familiar places to include in your limericks. When complete select a suitable illustration or draw one of your own using tux/sumo paint, share it with your teacher and upload it to your blog.

There was a great man from England
Who was so sweet and kind,

How Kites fly

How kites fly? What is a kite? Kite is a toy that comes in different kinds and shapes . For a kite to fly the wind is very important because it need blow it upward. First the lifting force of all kites is produced by deflecting the air downward, the resulting change in momentum producing an upward force. Secondly for this is that the air traveling over the top of the curved surface of the kite is going faster than the air passing underneath. The fast-moving air creates less pressure this means there is more pressure underneath the kite, and this helps to force it upwards.
